Laparoscopic appendectomy is one of the most successful and convenient procedure to treat appendicitis. Laparoscopic procedure facilitates the surgeon to operate through 3 small incisions while watching an enlarged image of the patients internal organs on a television monitor. The surgeon uses narrow, tube-like instruments to operate on the infected appendix.
⦿ Early and non-ruptured appendicitis
The procedure starts with the surgeon making three tiny incisions to insert cannula into the patients abdomen. A laparoscope is inserted through this cannula in to the patients abdomen to give a magnified view of the patients internal organs to surgeon on a television monitor. This is followed by insertion of several other cannulas to allow the surgeon to remove the appendix. The appendix is removed and a drain may be placed during the procedure that will be removed later by the surgeon.
