Laparoscopic removal of gallbladder (cholecystectomy) is a less invasive way to get rid of stones located in the gallbladder. The laparoscopic surgery requires smaller and lesser incisions and does not require incision of the abdominal muscles, as compared to open surgery.

Elderly and obese patients
⦿
Symptomatic gall bladder stones
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia with the help of a laparoscope that allows the surgeon to see magnified images of the inside of patients body on a monitor in the operating theater. Laparoscope is inserted through tiny incisions made just below the navel of the patient. In addition to laparoscope, several other instruments are also inserted through different incisions made in the right upper part of patients abdomen. Now gallbladder is taken out through one of the incisions. These incisions are closed after removal of all the instruments and laparoscope used during surgery.
